Over the past decade, the Sankalp Africa Summit has emerged as a pivotal event in impact investing and social entrepreneurship across Africa. Originating from the Sankalp initiative founded by Intellecap in India in 2009, the summit was extended to Africa in 2014, recognizing the unique opportunities and challenges on the continent. Annually, it gathers hundreds of entrepreneurs, investors, and leaders from over 65 countries, facilitating critical partnerships and discussions that drive regional and global sustainable development. The convening not only underscores the importance of innovative solutions in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals but also highlights the transformative power of collaboration within the African ecosystem.

The Sankalp Africa Summit 2024, held on February 28th and 29th, marked a significant event, drawing 1,358 participants from over 50 countries, centered on the theme “Catalyzing Impact: Igniting Africa’s Potential for Just Transition.” This two-day summit encompassed 46 sessions, exploring vital topics such as Agriculture, Gender, Climate & Clean Energy, and Health, among others. Noteworthy were new initiatives like the ASCEND Program, which connected early-stage enterprises with Angel Investors for potential seed funding and strategic advice. Another highlight was the “Trailblazers” segment, showcasing seven entrepreneurs poised for Series B funding, seeking investments exceeding 10 million USD. The summit promoted impactful dialogues and development, positioning Africa innovatively in the global economy. Looking ahead, the new Sankalp Lead, Liz Corbishley, and her team are committed to further enriching this dynamic platform.
