“Sankalp Forum has redefined entrepreneurship and impact investment in Africa. It’s where leaders meet to shape the future of global development.” — Moka Lantum, Checkups Medical
At Sankalp Forum, we bring together an expansive and diverse network of entrepreneurs, capital providers, and ecosystem support actors who are committed to solving the world’s most pressing challenges. Our mission is to ensure that this network drives relevant knowledge exchange and facilitates capital flow, fostering an environment where impactful collaborations can thrive.
VOICES OF IMPACT
Impact Investing, Blended Finance & Colaborative Philanthropy
Early-stage enterprises have a critical financing gap, and we focus on connecting them with capital sources. Through narrative building and our convenings, we spark critical conversations on issues like blended finance and leverage mainstream capital towards impact investing by studying collaborative philanthropic funding models and those adopted by various financiers. At Sankalp, our core remains connecting capital for impact.

"My experience with Sankalp has been nothing short of extraordinary. The last conference proved to be a game-changer for me, especially from a business standpoint. I am thrilled to share that I successfully closed a significant deal worth USD 600,000, a testament to the high-caliber opportunities that Sankalp offers. The connections I made there are invaluable, opening doors to new possibilities and collaborations. Sankalp truly stands out as a pivotal platform for growth and networking."
Circular Economies
Starting with the textile value chain, we are building expertise in implementing the principles of the circular economy for the private sector by connecting it with innovative entrepreneurs. We are also exploring circularity in agriculture, as well as other sectors, to help shape an impact economy.

"Attending the Sankalp Summit was incredibly beneficial for my team and me. We made numerous great connections for business support, and within a week post-summit, we are already in follow-up conversations with half of them. The exposure and recognition from the Sankalp Africa Awards, where we secured 3rd place, have significantly boosted our visibility. This has led to additional inflows of potential connections outside of those made directly during the summit, fast-tracking our business offerings and the impact we are making."
Climate Crisis - Finance, Risk & Opportunity
We engage financial institutions and the private sector in conversations on their role in the climate crisis, with a focus on climate risk pricing for financial institutions, blended finance vehicles, access to climate financing for MSMEs, and the need to leverage private sector capital for on-ground solutions. We also focus on off-grid, decentralized renewable energy stakeholders, corporate ESG ratings for the private sector, and the move to a low carbon economy.

"In the early years, there was no other convening like Sankalp. It brought together people from all around the region, and it was a great way to share ideas. Now, Sankalp is much more of a pulse on what is hot and what’s not. It’s fascinating to see in one place how much markets have shifted and how businesses are adapting. Sankalp provides a unique opportunity to sense the big trends, make meaningful connections, and explore new sectors. These interactions have had an enormous impact on scaling programs and investments. It’s through Sankalp that I’ve built long-term relationships and made informed decisions that have shaped our business strategies."
Agriculture - Increasing Resilience of Smallholder Farmers
With an emphasis on the challenges that impact smallholder farmers the most, we focus on soil and resource degradation, fragmentation of land holdings, inequity in gender roles, and climate change. Increasingly, we address circularity in agriculture and support models for smallholder farmers to increase their resilience, sustainability and profitability, while being aligned with SDG 2 and SDG 12.

"Since 2016, I have been attending the Sankalp Africa Summits every year, whether in-person or online. I try to only attend events that are useful and efficient in terms of time, and Sankalp certainly fits that description. It's a two-day event where I can pre-schedule at least 20 meetings with people I want to meet, as well as have happenstance meetings that can't be replicated in an online event. During those two days, I typically meet 50 to 70 people, which is impossible to do without attending conferences like Sankalp. Sankalp provides a unique opportunity to have half-hour conversations back-to-back, which allows for a lot of productivity in a short amount of time. These conversations can lead to investments, learning about new markets, or making new connections that could pay off down the road."

"Our first experience with Sankalp in 2019 was transformative. As newcomers in the affordable housing space, we had the opportunity to pitch our innovative precast concrete structures. What stood out was not just the pitching, but the chance to build a demonstration house right at the event, which allowed us to showcase our product in a tangible way. The exposure and the connections we made, including with the Siemens Foundation, were invaluable. It’s these kinds of opportunities at Sankalp that have significantly boosted our brand visibility and credibility in the market."

"Sankalp Forum has been a transformative force in my journey as an entrepreneur in East Africa. From the moment I was shortlisted as a finalist in 2014, I realized that Sankalp was more than just another pitch competition—it was a catalyst for a fundamental shift in how I approached entrepreneurship. The unique focus on both social impact and sustainable business models challenged me to think critically about every dollar I invest and its potential to create lasting impact. Over the years, Sankalp has grown into a beacon of excellence, not just for me, but for the entire entrepreneurial ecosystem in Africa. Today, Sankalp remains the star on my entrepreneurial journey—a guiding light that continues to inspire and influence the way I build and scale my ventures. The forum's ability to bring together all stakeholders—from entrepreneurs to investors, policymakers to academics—creates an unparalleled environment for honest, impactful conversations."
