Sankalp Forum was initiated in India in 2009 by Intellecap, part of the Aavishkaar-Intellecap Group, to create a thriving ecosystem for business-led inclusive development. Over the past 9 years, Sankalp has built one of the world’s largest impact enterprise focused platforms that has showcased and discovered 1500+ entrepreneurs, through 18+ editions and has connected them to 300+ investors. Sankalp has enabled enterprises and entrepreneurs and has helped raise over USD 240 million in funding. Sankalp Forum engages with Governments, Corporations, influential platforms like the G8 and G20, media and civil society to drive a paradigm shift in inclusive development approaches.

Sankalp Africa Lead

 Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Arielle has been a prominent part of the startup ecosystem in East Africa. As a member of Intellecap’s founding team in East Africa, Arielle was an integral part of establishing the Nairobi office and wears many hats executing Intellecap's work. With the Sankalp Forum, Arielle manages relationships with over international donors and investors from across the world, multinational corporations, incubators, and capacity support providers. She has also recruited local high net-worth individuals as angel investors in establishing an East Africa chapter for Intellecap Impact Investment Network (I3N), an angel investor network. As part of her work, she has sourced and screened 300+ high-impact businesses from across Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi, Ethiopia, and Kenya to ultimately select 5 – 10 enterprises to coach and prepare for the I3N investor showcases and the Sankalp Awards Program.

Arielle also spearheads StartupWave’s (Intellecap’s virtual pre-incubation platform) East African operations. In her role with StartupWave, Arielle has contextualized the platform for the East African Market, onboarded over 30 ecosystem partners including incubators and service providers, and promoted StartupWave to reach 600 users in just 1.5 years of operation. Arielle has directly given support, mentorship, and advise to hundreds of enterprises across East Africa. She has executed enterprise trainings, designed enterprise
training curricula, and developed and executed enterprise challenge programs for clients across East, Central, Western and Southern Africa. She has delivered numerous pro-bono business advisory workshops to the local entrepreneurship ecosystem in Nairobi.

Arielle has earned her certificate in Social Entrepreneurship as a graduate of the 2013 IDEX Accelerator Fellowship. During her fellowship in Bangalore, Arielle divided her time between working with Kamal Kisan, an early-stage agricultural social business and Dream A Dream, an
educational based NGO. She came to India after spending 5 years at the Aspen Institute as a project manager where she worked closely with the administrative departments and policy programs. She has led a summer immersion program in rural Kenya through social entrepreneurship for college students, and has worked at a rehabilitation center for street girls in Nairobi. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the Catholic University of America.

Urvashi is focused on building the Sankalp Global Forum as the leading convener of dialogue and outcomes for inclusive development globally. Sankalp’s Global Summit in India and regional Summit in Kenya and Indonesia are all convening that see participation of over a thousand practitioners and leaders on market-led development, impact investing, social entrepreneurship and South-South
collaboration.

Urvashi has over 16 years of experience in international business and non-profits across India, US, and UK. She has extensive experience in building thought leadership platforms and services in India; exceptional relationship management skills with key influencers in the private and public sector and serve on the Board member of a number of NGOs. She also speaks at international forums including AVPN (Singapore), and the Women’s Forum for the Economy & Society (Deuville, France). She recently graduated from an Executive Management and
Leadership Course at INSEAD Business School for Senior Executives.
