Recently, Intellecap’s Consulting Practice partnered with IFC to conduct a detailed study to assess the key characteristics of the MSME sector and measure the demand and flow of debt and equity funding to the sector.

The Livelihood Pathways for the Poorest project, implemented in Gaya District, Bihar, India, with support from the Rockefeller Foundation, aimed to demonstrate a model that could help the ultra-poor escape poverty through the provision of integrated financial, livelihood and risk management services.

Pathways to Progress presents an overview of social enterprise activity in five critical needs sectors. It discusses some key sector-specific challenges these mission-driven for-profit businesses face and identifies opportunities for social enterprise activity.

This Study, done by Intellecap on behalf of IFC (International Finance Corporation), aims to provide an assessment of the Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector finance in India. The Study also evaluates the consequent gap in the financing needs of MSMEs, and explores potential interventions to address the lack of access to formal finance for this sector.

Keystone’s first report on the field of impact investing ‘What Investees Think’ presents robust feedback from social enterprises about the performance of their investors. The conclusions are based on a survey of 330 social enterprises anonymously on behalf of 7 impact investors worldwide.

The Sankalp Forum-Samridhi Social Enterprise Recognition and Regional Summit, organized in collaboration with DFID and GIZ, was aimed at supporting social entrepreneurs working in India’s Low Income States (LIS). As part of the Summit, a special “Recognition program” was organized to showcase the most innovative and scalable of these social enterprises. This compendium of case studies showcases the ten finalists at the Sankalp Forum-Samridhi Social Enterprise Recognition 2012.

Yet, despite this impressive growth, little is known about these social enterprises collectively. Intellecap proposed to conduct a survey of this “social enterprise landscape”.
