Initiated by a team of technocrats with the aim of boosting the sagging agricultural economy in the country through rural-entrepreneurship based business models, Akshayakalpa targets the production organic milk and milk products to provide gainful income generation opportunities to farmers.
The enterprise essentially follows a hub-and-spoke model. They help set up farmer-owned and operated satellite farms (spokes) that are optimally automated and power self-sufficient to reduce drudgery and ensure quality of milk. A farm of 25 cows can be easily managed by 2 persons and provide families with an income of almost INR 50,000 a month. . The hub unit provides other services such as vet care, engineering and design, banking and so on. Akshayakalpa will be the first organized effort for organic milk and milk products production of substantial scale in India.
