Commencing his political career as a student union leader, Captain Rudy has a span of more than two decades of active politics behind him. He was elected as a MLA from his home state of Bihar in 1990 (at the age of 28). He served as national vice-president of the youth wing of BJP to be later elevated to Spokesperson of the party. He was elected to Parliament from Chapra in Bihar in 1996, re-elected in 1999 and inducted as Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry in 2001.He was subsequently elevated as Civil Aviation Minister in Vajpayee government in 2003. Mr. Rudy was re-elected to the 16th Lok Sabha and was sworn in as a Union Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Parliamentary Affairs in November 2014.
