Harsh Mariwala leads Marico Limited (Marico) as its Chairman.
Over past 3 decades, Harsh Mariwala has transformed a traditional commodity driven business into a leading Consumer Products Company, in the Beauty and Wellness space. Marico markets leading brands such as Parachute, Nihar, Saffola, Hair & Care, Setwet, Livon, X-Men, HairCode, among others. From a turnover of USD 0.08 million in 1971, Marico / Kaya crossed a turnover of USD 833 million during 2013-14. Turnover this year is expected to cross USD 1 billion in FY15 with a market cap of more than USD 3.5 billion. The compounded topline growth rate for past 20 years has been 15%.
Under his leadership, Marico has received several awards and external recognition, over 100 in the last few years. Among the most recent awards, Marico was recognized as one of the ‘Top 4 companies in the India’s Best Boards study conducted by The Economic Times and Hay Group. Marico ranked 4th in the Top Companies for Leaders 2014 India study conducted by The Economic Times and Aon Hewitt. Marico also received the ‘Best Governed Company’ Award by the Asian Centre of Corporate Governance.
Harsh Mariwala’s entrepreneurial drive and passion for Innovation, enthused him to establish the Marico Innovation Foundation in 2003. Under the stewardship of an eminent Board, the Foundation acts as a catalyst to fuel innovation in India. As an expression of his Personal Social Responsibility, Mr. Mariwala launched ASCENT – Accelerating the SCaling up of ENTerprises to identify growth-stage entrepreneurs with potential and enable them in their scaling-up journey.
Mr. Mariwala was the President of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in 2011. He was recently ranked as one India’s Best CEOs (FMCG category –Mid Sized companies) by Business Today.
