Recap 2013: Funds raised by Sankalp Enterprises

It was an exciting, eventful 12 months for Sankalp Alumni from across the years. Circa 2013 witnessed a lot of equity, debt and cash grant funding action, and we are happy to present a quick recap of some of the developments here in no particular order:

  1. Ampere Vehicles: Designs and manufactures a wide range of reliable, cost effective and quality Electric Vehicles (EV) for providing economical, comfortable, stylish and well performing electric mobility solutions for all categories of people and businesses in Asia and beyond. It received an equity infusion of USD 3.3 Mn from Axion Capital and Forum Synergies.
  2. Banka Bio Loo: Is a women-led business organization engaged in promoting and developing innovative environmental friendly products and services for Human Waste Management System. It raised debt funding from IntelleGrow.
  3. Barrix Agro Sciences: Is an innovative agri-solutions company that replaces chemical based pesticides with eco-friendly traps for fruit and vegetable flies. It raised equity from Omnivore Partners.
  4. Embrace Innovations: Saves millions of infant lives through its low cost baby-warmers designed for premature and low-birth weight babies.  They received a cash grant of USD 100,000 from the World Bank.
  5. ERC Eye Care: Aims to provide inclusive, affordable, service oriented, yet sustainable eye care to the Bottom of the Pyramid (BoP) and marginalized populations. It raised investment from Ankur Capital.
  6. Milaap: Is an online fund-raising platform that enables people around the world to fund and impact communities in need of basic facilities in India. It raised equity of USD 1  Mn from Jungle Ventures.
  7. SMV Wheels: Is a a deferred payment cycle rickshaw social enterprise working to bring dignity to rickshaw drivers. It received a cash grant of INR 100,000 from the World Bank.
  8. Under The Mango Tree: Under The Mango Tree (UTMT) is a social enterprise that promotes beekeeping to increase agricultural productivity, enhance incomes and improve livelihoods of marginal farmers in India. It received a cash grant of USD 100,000 from the World Bank.
  9. Vindhya Infomedia: Is a data entry, data management, data processing and data conversion company that mainly employs differently-abled people. It raised debt from IntelleGrow.
  10. Waterlife: Is a company that creates access to safe drinking water in under-served areas, using market-based approaches and technology innovation. It received a cash grant of USD 100,000 from the World Bank.
