ACHIEVING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS THROUGH ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND BY MAINSTREAMING IMPACT

Healthcare, Water & Sanitation

From innovative last-mile delivery methods to cutting edge technology and access to training for healthcare workers, we enable healthtech entrepreneurs in the Global South to enhance access to water, nutrition and sanitation to the emerging 3 billion. We’re building the narrative around equity in water stewardship and access to healthcare where it matters most.

Inclusive Fintech & Financial Services

We are improving access to finance for last-mile consumers by fostering innovative technology partnerships and improving product affordability. Our goal is to create inclusive fintech models, digitize rural value chains and surface micro-investing, micro-savings, and micro-insurance opportunities. We do this by connecting entrepreneurs with the ecosystem to enable cross-border and cross-sectoral collaboration.

Gender Lens Investing & Women Leaders

Women make up 70% of the world’s impoverished people (UN) and continue to be at a disadvantage despite the social and technological advances brought about for the bottom of the economic pyramid in the last few decades. Gender is a cross-cutting theme and features in all thematic sectors. We also host an exclusive gathering for the #WomenatSankalp that celebrates and connects women leaders.

The Future of Work(ers) & GIG Economy

We focus on conversations on localised manufacturing, job security for gig economy workers, securing the livelihoods of migrant workers, and steady labour supply for MSME’s. We study what the future of work will look like for millions of low-income workers across the Global South, and whether technology & mobile connectivity can bridge the gap for labour supply & demand, especially for micro & small enterprises. At Sankalp we bring you voices from the community that matter.

Impact Investing, Blended Finance & Colaborative Philanthropy

Early-stage enterprises have a critical financing gap, and we focus on connecting them with capital sources. Through narrative building and our convenings, we spark critical conversations on issues like blended finance and leverage mainstream capital towards impact investing by studying collaborative philanthropic funding models and those adopted by various financiers. At Sankalp, our core remains connecting capital for impact.

Circular Economies

Starting with the textile value chain, we are building expertise in implementing the principles of the circular economy for the private sector by connecting it with innovative entrepreneurs. We are also exploring circularity in agriculture, as well as other sectors, to help shape an impact economy.

Climate Crisis - Finance, Risk & Opportunity

We engage financial institutions and the private sector in conversations on their role in the climate crisis, with a focus on climate risk pricing for financial institutions, blended finance vehicles, access to climate financing for MSMEs, and the need to leverage private sector capital for on-ground solutions. We also focus on off-grid, decentralized renewable energy stakeholders, corporate ESG ratings for the private sector, and the move to a low carbon economy.

Agriculture - Increasing Resilience of Smallholder Farmers

With an emphasis on the challenges that impact smallholder farmers the most, we focus on soil and resource degradation, fragmentation of land holdings, inequity in gender roles, and climate change. Increasingly, we address circularity in agriculture and support models for smallholder farmers to increase their resilience, sustainability and profitability, while being aligned with SDG 2 and SDG 12.
